The "WORLD" has two meanings in the Bible.

One is very good, and one is very bad. It is important to be able to discern which meaning is being used in context and to convey which one we are talking about when posting and preaching.

For instance we are called to love the “world,” as God so loved the world and sent His only Son (John 3:16). This means we are called to love the earth and it’s creation that God called “good” in Genesis. This includes all mankind, believers and unbelievers.

The “world” we are not to love is defined in 1 John 2:15-17;

“The lusts of the flesh, the pride of life, and the deceitfulness of riches.”

Obviously we are to hate these evils in the world such as greed, s*x trafficking, s*xual immorality, hierarchy, chaos, destruction, etc. These things enslave people, and cause contention, wars, hate and so on.

The false prophets claiming that the fires in LA are judgment from God have never truly encountered the love and grace of Jesus Christ. They do not represent Jesus, nor do the represent Christians. They have hearts of stone that need to changed by the love of Christ.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
