The Blue Ridge Audubon Chapter, founded in 1986, is a chapter of the National Audubon Society serving Asheville and surrounding areas. The chapter owns and manages the Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary, located off Merrimon Avenue. Tom Tribble was honored at our membership meeting this week for his 18+ years of service on the Blue Ridge Audubon Chapter as a member, Board President, and dedicated ambassador of Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary. He has received several state and local awards for his leadership and commitment to birds and the places they need, and our local chapter is deeply grateful for all he has done. Tom has chosen to “retire” from the Board as this term ends. He will still be around and involved in projects of his own choosing. So don’t be surprised if you see him at Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary or anywhere birds and birders might be! Thank you, Tom! We wouldn’t be where we are without you!

Restoration plans are moving forward for one of our favorite local birding spots, Owen Park in Swannanoa. The landscape architecture firm hired by Buncombe County has drafted two design concepts based on earlier community input. We invite you to view the two proposals and give feedback through the link below. Join us in using our voices for birds and the places they need!
