I am an exMormon who was raised in the LDS religion by two devout Mormon parents. After researching Mormonism in my early adult years, I discovered endless proof that the entire religion was a fabrication of some incredibly fallible men. After exploring atheism (as most exMormons do when their faith is shattered), I eventually gave Christianity a try and converted. My goal with this group is to help people from every part of the Mormon journey find the truth that will set them free.

I think Mormons often overlook the biggest issue when it comes to these sort of posts…The OP seems to think there are only two options:
1– “There is a god that accepts everything, and I’ll be saved because I did good works.”
2- “There is no God at all and all that matters is that I was happy.”
But there is a third option:
3- “I lived a good life, but went against Biblical doctrine and followed false prophets and a false christ. I was ambivalent toward the truth of God, and trusted my own beliefs over Scripture. My works now mean nothing, and I still have judgement and eternity to deal with. My beautiful life means nothing, because I now will live in an empty eternity, forever separated from God.”
