It is not every day that the sounds of a 1924 Karl Pilar violin from Czech grace The Ranch. From the collection of Daniel Butman who laid down some masterwork tracks today for a Ranch client. While an SM81 condenser and sE VR2 ribbon picked up every nuance, studio dog Paisley succumbed to the soothing vibe.

Hotels in Peru -- an awesome, emerging ATL high-energy emo shoegaze band -- got their recording sea legs today at The Ranch as a kick-off their first EP project. It took them all of 2 minutes to get rocking like they had been born in a studio, which would not have been long ago considering they are two 13-year olds (Lincoln on lead/vocals and Liam on bass) and one 12-year old. (Liam on drums) Clear why they won and Alpharetta's 2025 Battle of the Bands competition. Golden ears of industry vet Ross Petersen on the project to help ensure an outstanding debut. Now is the time to start following these guys.

Every month, The Ranch opens its barn doors to young artist vocalists, guitar or piano players ages 15–21 for an inspiring session of original music, collaboration, and community. Giving emerging artists a supportive space to share their stories and song ideas, develop their craft, gain public performance confidence, hear feedback on their work, and connect with and learn from fellow youth musicians who are just as passionate about songwriting.

The series will be hosted by Alex Boyer, a creative 16 year-old artist from Cu***ng, Georgia who eats and sleeps with his guitar.
This is not just another open mic. It is an event about growth, education and collaboration.

Each session will be attended by an educator or other professional who will offer insights on lyric writing, song structure and performance skills, and also provide constructive feedback on individual performances.

Krista McCoy is an Atlanta based vocal coach with 20 years of teaching and performing experience in a wide variety of music genres including musical theater, jazz, folk and classical. With a bachelors in vocal performance (California Baptist University), collegiate piano studies, and extensive experience as a show director (35+ shows), Krista is a beloved and highly sought music coach and a perfect fit for the Collective.

Attendance is strictly limited to 7 youth artists.

$30 participation fee.

Each artist will receive a .wav file of their performance, recorded on an analog Neve console.
