Join us for the Juneteenth Soccer Clinic with Black Diamonds on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM at Dennis Chavez Park!

This FREE clinic is open to youth ages 6–12 and is a great opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, and celebrate community through sports.

💈 Free haircuts provided by Barbersville
🍽️ Dinner provided by Nexus and NM Soul Shack following the clinic

In honor of Juneteenth, observed on June 19th and commemorating the end of slavery in America, we share this photo from the archives of an African American woman with a parasol at the Albright Art Parlors in Albuquerque, New Mexico, ca. 1890s. Juneteenth is considered America's "second Independence Day." In the 1890s, the celebration was mentioned in newspapers in Clovis and Roswell and referred to as "Emancipation Day," then later changed to "Juneteenth Emancipation Day" in the 1930s.

Juneteenth is now a national holiday honoring the achievements and resilience of the African American community throughout the US.
