Saturday was a very special day for Albany.

Proud to celebrate the grand opening of the Black Nurses Coalition’s new home & health clinic at the Albany West Community Center.

For 13 years, Dr. Brenda Robinson and the Black Nurses Coalition have shown up for Albany in a big way — especially during COVID, when they were on the ground helping get vaccines into the community, particularly in our formerly red-lined neighborhoods that so often have been left behind.

When I was Chief of Staff to Mayor Kathy Sheehan, we had the chance to work with a lot of great partners who helped make the Albany West Community Center and this incredible space possible, including Councilmembers Joyce Love and Jahmel Robinson. But what made this project unique was the community members who spoke up, shared what they felt the neighborhood needed, and pushed for a vision that included a public health provider in this space.

Congratulations to Dr. Robinson and the Black Nurses Coalition on this major milestone that is well-deserved and a long time coming. We can’t wait to see all the people who are helped in this vital space!
