le. As a result, MK Safety Net was established in 1999 and was incorporated as a 501c3 non-profit organization in 2003. MK Safety Net understands the unique challenges MKs face in recovering from abuse due to factors related to growing up overseas, especially the issues of identity and belonging. Our unpaid, all-volunteer board maintains a website where MKs can find useful resources. MKSN oversees several social media sites where MKs can share their stories and where they can keep informed of developments related to abuse in mission settings. MKSN also holds gatherings and conferences across the country where MKs can share with others whose life experiences mirror their own. MK Safety Net has no ties to any mission or religious organization. We respect the diversity of paths to wholeness that MK abuse survivors find helpful, including both secular and various religious modalities of healing.
