Older

She turns her grey into silver.
Her knowledge invaluable and precious.
Laughing when people acknowledge her wisdom.
I am wise because I am Old.

I have seen heartache so deep
It has broken me open.
I have seen Love so deep
That I have drowned.
I have cried enough tears
To fill the Ocean.
But always stepped on.

I have wished for days to be kinder.
I have created numerous ways to survive.
I have lost myself to utter sorrow.
But have risen to these occasions
With a bravery I didn't know existed.
To learn lessons otherwise lost.
And again I stepped on.

So when Someone asks am I afraid to get old
I can honestly say there is a learned, peaceful rthym.
A Grace not often granted to the young.
As beautiful as tarnished silver, with a patina all its own.

The Crone

The Crone stops and listens silently
To the turning of the Wheel.
For she is so in tune with Nature that
The sounds of each Season beckons differently.
Longevity has given her eyes that see beyond vision
Ears that hear what others choose to ignore
Fine tuned senses honed sharp by longevity gives
Her wisdom from each whisper of the trees as
They rustle and talk among themselves.
The Earth sleeps now, as it is the time of hibernation.
Soon to have Imbolic awaken the natural warmth from
The roots up to soil stirring, churning, reaching as each
New day becomes longer minute by minute.
And she will once again begin to feel the rejuvenation of
Another rebirth
Another beginning
Another chance
To spread what she has learned in praise of Mother Earth.
