As Uganda celebrates Heroes day, at SAFRI we choose to celebrate our Village Health Teams (VHTs) that have offered assistance in recruiting pregnant mothers for the BabyGel Research project. The project is in place to find ways of preventing infection among newborns by use of the Alcohol based handrub (sanitizer). The research project is running in Budaka, Busiu and Nakaloke where each area has got 24 villages covered. So far, more than 2,000 participants have been recruited in the last two years of operation. This research project is expected to run for the period of five years.
