Bells

They say that the Italian Bishop Paulinius liked the bells very much during the walk, it even seemed to him that, while swinging, they make a ringing. After that, the bishop ordered the same flower to be cast from copper - this was the first bell. So in 1500, the first bells appeared in the Italian province of Campania. Bell towers in Italy were called campanillas.

And, what is less known, back in the 17th century, one of the species, namely, the bell rapunzel (bell-shaped bell) was considered a delicacy vegetable and was grown as a garden plant. Its roots are used as food like radishes, young leaves - like lettuce.

There are two beliefs in southern England. Bluebells growing in the garden bring prosperity to it. This superstition is due to the fact that the bell was considered a "sacred flower" there for its resemblance to the bells worn by wandering monks.
