Behind every stolen cultural object lies a missing story, a disrupted memory and a community deprived of part of its identity.

UNESCO’s Virtual Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects shines a light on what has been taken, bringing together testimonies, histories and objects from around the world to raise awareness about the global fight against illicit trafficking.

More than a digital platform, the Museum is a collective international effort to protect cultural heritage, support restitution and reconnect objects with the people and places they belong to.

Since its launch, the Museum has welcomed more than 205,000 visitors, generated 1.6 million page views and over 4.4 million interactions worldwide.
