The goals of " Who says hopeless ! "
By doing the Phuket Triathlon at 24 november 3013, to demonstrate that the "written off" as a man, with the stigma "hopeless and helpless", because of a very long-term addiction to hard drugs and alcohol, an underestimation of self-reliance, perseverance and qualities of the individual. ncial support for the children and the disabled, who are supported by the Foundation. The participants of " Who says hopeless !"
The name of this project is a conscious choice. Participants Eric, Christopher and Ron are still confronted with the word hopeless. Eric and Christopher, were respectively 5 1/2 and 3 years ago in a completely hopeless situation. After 25 years of drugs and alcohol addiction, completing various "detox programs" without long-term success, both were abandoned by society and by themselves, stigmatised as hopeless. Ron started working at the police in The Hague, Netherlands. He later switched to the social work. It has become a big part of his life working with and for people, who are appointed, as helpless and hopeless by society

An alternative program developed by Ron, as a pragmatic rehabilitation alternative for "end-stage" addicts, brought Eric, Christopher and Ron together. (Program details, see www.creatingbalancethailand.com)
Eric was the first "client" of the program. Christopher followed three years later. Both are now completely clean, respectively 5 1/2 and 3 years, without any relapse.They live and work in Thailand and support Ron as a volunteer in the Foundation Creating Balance Thailand. Their volunteer work includes helping orphans and disabled people,who live in the mountains of northern Thailand. These children and disabled live in an environment, that is strongly colored by poverty, unemployment, alcohol - and drug-use and –trade. Without support from outside these (disabled) children are in a completely hopeless situation, without real positive future expectations. The aim of support to these children and disabled, from the Foundation, with the help of Eric and Christopher, is to break this hopeless situation, give them a healthy - and safe social enviroment and to develop a positive future perspective.

Yesterday a very nice little (training) race. A duathlon ( 4km run, 40 km cycling 6 km run). For me a moment where i stand for the big race Pattaya triathlon on 21 may. With a 6th place overall i am on my track. Compliments for the organizers. Beautiful ( heavy cycling) track and well organized.

A new sponsor in our 4t season !!!
Voor het nieuwe seizoen van ons fundraising en sport project “Who says hopeless !!!” is er een nieuwe sponsor bij gekomen. Het Nederlandse Grand-café Van Grieken.
De drijvende krachten achter dit Grand-café, Robert van Grieken en Els Kolb ondersteunen al geruime tijd onze Foundation, maar zijn nu ook bezig om hun droom te verwezenlijken.

In afwachting van een definitieve locatie, is dt waarschijnlijk het eerste “virtuele” Grand-café.
Dit betekent dat iedereen via facebook “Grand-café Van Grieken” alvast kennis kan maken met de heerlijkheden die zjj in de toekomst zullen gaan serveren in Grand café “Van Grieken”. Je kan via deze pagina artikelen bestellen zoals taarten, soepen sauzen, chutneys, patés, koude schotels etc. maar ook als je wat te vieren hebt kunnen zij een mooie invulling geven aan het ‘culinaire’ gedeelte van je feest.
