Phu Quoc, Vietnam, 2-night stay. 🇻🇳
Just a 1 hour and 20 minute flight from Bangkok, a two-night stay turned out to be completely doable without feeling rushed.
Here’s how we split the island to get two completely different experiences in one short trip:
📍 Night 1: Sunset Town.
Unique and kinda weird European replica town.
And I mean weird in a good way.
This is a fun area to scoot around. It has recreated famous European landmarks and architecture, but many of the buildings are still empty. It feels like driving around a movie set or a massive theme park. The weather was perfect so what is not to like.
We rented a cool yellow electric bike from Hong Phat Motorbike Rental. The owner is a chill guy with good reviews.
You have probably heard of the world’s longest over-sea cable car here. It connects An Thoi to Hon Thom Island in about 25 minutes.
We are no crowds, beach people, so instead, we made a trip to Khem Beach which was just a 10-minute ride away. Seafood and drinks at Craft Beer before returning for the daily firework show.
Big win: We booked a hotel with a balcony view of the fireworks. It saved us from paying entrance fees or fighting the crowds. Plus, realistically fireworks are only fun for about 5 minutes anyway, so getting to view them from the comfort of our hotel room was a nice touch.
📍 Night 2: Ong Lang Beach. We headed to the opposite end of the island for a resort stay to just enjoy the beach and chill. I recommend Arcarine Restaurant, the staff are very friendly, the food is good, and it’s not super busy like the others in the area. It was a great sendoff.
The 2-Night Strategy: The secret to making two nights feel like a real vacay is in the flight times. Arriving at 11AM on day one meant we could drop our bags at the hotel and immediately start exploring. On the final day, a 5PM flight gave us a full beach morning and a relaxed lunch before leaving for the airport at 1:30 PM.
We skipped the busy theme parks and the popular cable car. If you want to fit those in, you will need to add another day. But for a quick, relaxed island escape from the city, this pacing was perfect for us. I would do it again in another location 1-2 hours flight from Bangkok.
Where should we go for our next 2-night trip? 👇
