I am pleased to be representing South Sudan at the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2025 (WTDC-25) in Baku, Azerbaijan. The delegation led by the Deputy Minister, Hon. David Yauyau is accompanied by the heads of the Media Authority, Elijah Alier and USAF, Mabe Emmanuel and technical staff from the NCA.

This critical conference organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), is operating under the theme: "Universal, Meaningful and Affordable Connectivity for an Inclusive and Sustainable Digital Future," and is finalising the global digital roadmap for the next four years(2026-2029).

Why WTDC-25 Matters to South Sudan🇸🇸. The agenda focuses on crucial development priorities highly relevant to our national strategy including Digital Inclusion and Universal Connectivity.

The National Communication Authority - NCA remains fully committed to leveraging these global partnerships to advance our national goal: ensuring affordable and meaningful digital access for all South Sudanese citizens.

The outcomes of this conference will particularly support the crucial agenda, enabling us to bridge the digital divide and empower our communities for an inclusive and prosperous digital future.

I had the privilege of meeting with Mr. Abraham Mayol, a Senior ICT Officer from the East African Communications Organisation (EACO) this morning.

In this meeting, I received updates on the outcomes of the recent EACO Working Group One on EACO Sector Indicators Harmonization, which took place here in Juba last week. I was also briefed on recent developments from the EACO head office in Kigali. Rwanda.

The National Communication Authority - NCA remains committed to our partnership with EACO, working together to strengthen and promote cooperation across the region in the ICT and Telecommunications sector.

While traditional literacy remains fundamental, the ability to navigate, understand and safely engage with digital technology is now an essential skill for empowering our citizens and driving national development.

As the nation's ICT regulator, the NCA is dedicated to creating a secure and accessible digital environment that fosters this crucial form of literacy. Particularly through our BiLDD program, which focuses on equipping young girls with fundamental computer and life skills. By investing in these initiatives and creating a safe online environment, we are ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital transformation.

We remain committed to ensuring that all South Sudanese, have the opportunity to participate fully in the digital future.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

It is with deep sorrow that we have received the heartbreaking news of the passing of Gen. Akuch Panyang Jot, the beloved wife of the Honorable Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services.

On behalf of the National Communication Authority and on my own behalf, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Honorable Minister and his entire family during this moment of immense grief and loss.

We stand in solidarity with the Minister, his family, loved ones and we pray that God grants them strength, comfort and peace in this difficult time.

The late Gen. Akuch Panyang will be remembered for her strength, dignity and service. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
