The Governor of Western Equatoria State has officially announced that the long-awaited Western Equatoria State University (WES University) will open in August.

According to the announcement, the government under His Excellency Badagbu Daniel Rimbasa has confirmed that application forms for admission will be issued free of charge to all prospective students as part of efforts to expand access to higher education in the state.

“The Ministry of Higher Education has approved the opening of the university for the people of Western Equatoria State, and I have paid for 200 application forms to be issued free of charge. Come and collect and fill them,” Governor Rimbasa said.

He further stated that the first intake will begin in August, with initial programs to include the College of Agriculture, Faculty of Forestry, College of Health Sciences, Education, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), emphasizing the importance of computer literacy and modern skills.

The initiative is aimed at increasing educational opportunities for young people and improving access to university-level learning within Western Equatoria State.

Further details on programs offered, registration procedures, and the official opening ceremony are expected to be released by the state education authorities in the coming days.

The Governor has consistently emphasized support for education, encouraging young people to enroll in secondary schools and pursue higher education opportunities.
