On 2nd May 2025, an important milestone was reached for the residents of Kapoeta Municipality, as the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State appointed Abraham Lotede to succeed His Worship Mayor Elia Lokuda of Kapoeta Municipality.

Abraham Lotede's appointment to the mayoral position resulted from extensive lobbying by a considerable majority of the youth in the region.

He is regarded as the most suitable candidate for the Greater Kapoeta area, and as such, he merits this position.

The atmosphere within Kapoeta is filled with joy and excitement, as youth warmly welcome the new mayor, reflecting their support and optimism for the future.
