Personal Pronouns.
What is a pronoun? A pronoun is a word used instead of a Noun. Examples.
Singular. Plural
1-Iam young. 1-We are young.
2- You are young. 2- (Remains the same)
3-He (she, it) is young. 3- They are young.
NB;
I, We, You, He, (she, it), they are called personal Pronouns because they stand for three persons as seen below:
1- The person speaking
2-The person spoken to, and
3-the person spoken of.
The pronouns I and we, which denote the person or persons speaking, are said to be personal Pronouns of the first person.
However, the pronouns you which denotes the person or persons spoken to, is said to be personal Pronoun of the second person. You must not forget that,(You) is used both in singular and plural. Lastly, the pronouns he(she and they, which denote the person or persons spoken of, are said to be personal pronouns of the third person. It, although it denotes the thing spoken of, is called a personal Pronoun. (The personal Pronouns of the third person are, strictly speaking, demonstrative pronouns).
