This one turned out to be a proper tall piece. Built with European walnut for frame and pine for the main grid, with a kumiko lattice frame that features sakura flowers from walnut, cherry, and pine wood.
The sakura pattern was the customer's choice, and honestly, it's a beautiful one. The Japanese really understood the appeal of cherry blossoms—there's something about the design that feels both delicate and timeless. It's one of those patterns that works in kumiko because it catches the light nicely without being too busy.
The mix of wood types—walnut, cherry, and pine—gives the flowers a bit of variation in tone as the light comes through. It's a taller lamp, so it makes a real statement in a room.
This one already found its home as a custom order, which is always the best feeling.

A custom touch for a fellow samurai spirit. ⚔️
Instead of the traditional Japanese window, this client chose the Imperial Chrysanthemum “Kiku” crest — laser cut into the center of the stand. 🌸
The result turned out beautiful.
