Each time we visit Karnak we discover something new. The granite gate here is one single piece and most visitors don't notice it when passing through it .This is the south wing granite doorway to the Peristyle Court of Tuthmosis III . Granite was to be found in Aswan only some 300-400 km away and transported to Luxor via the Nile.

When you enter Karnak temple on the left side there are much older temples than the rest of Karnak ie from the time of Djoser (3rd dynasty - 2687 BC ) . You would need a separate ticket but not many people people venture in this area . Some say it takes a lifetime to properly see Egypt .. I think it takes months to properly see Karnak temple only :)

An update from the Valley of the kings: we visited Merenptah s tomb (1203 BC) again for measurements - the width of the sarcophagus lid is roughly 2.2 m . The entrance width is roughly 2.5 m . It is very possible that they would have pushed the minimum 200 tones sarcophagus by maybe the usage of beams through the long 140 m entrance but it doesn't make it less sadistic:))

فى كل مرة نذهب لزيارة معبد الكرنك نكتشف شىء جديد .
بوابه قطعة واحده من الجرانيت الاخضر على يمين قدس الاقداس معظم الزوار يمرون من خلالها و لم ينتبهوا لها لقد جلبوها من على بعد 300 : 400 كم من اسوان تم نقلها عن طريق النيل فى عهد الملك تحوتمس الثالث .
عندما تدخل معبد الكرنك على اليسار يوجد معابد مهدمة اقدم بكثير من باقى المعبد من عهد الملك زوسر 2687 ق.م. هذا المكان يعرف بالمتحف المفتوح وله تذكرة دخول خاصة لا يقوم الكثير من الزوار بزيارته ربما تحتاج ان تقضى حياتك باكملها لروءية مصر و تحتاج الى شهور لرؤية معبد الكرنك فقط .

فى وادى الملوك قمنا بزيارة اخرى لمقبرة الملك مرنبتاح 1203ق.م.
قمنا بقياس التابوت الجرانيتى للملك و بلغ عرضه 2.2 م. و بلغ عرض مدخل المقبره 2.5م ربما قد اتيح لهم دفع التابوت لينزلق داخل المقبره فى ممر طوله 140 م و مازال شىء مدهش
