Masculine nouns ended in 'l' follow the pattern ghiocel - ghiocei (snowdrop-snowdrops).
You've seen this as well at cal - cai (horse-horses) or copil - copii (child-chidren)
However, adjectives do not follow this pattern:
abil-abili
admirabil-admirabili
jovial-joviali
