🚦 The future of mobility is being discussed now. Together.

A new meeting of local stakeholders dedicated to the SPARK project took place in Alba Iulia on March 30, 2026.

Public institutions, academia and local organisations came together to discuss an essential topic for the city: how to turn data, collaboration and strategic planning into real solutions for urban mobility.

A central focus of the meeting was the discussion on the next steps for updating the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP).

In the spirit of the SPARK project, the discussions went straight to what matters most: what data is needed from local stakeholders, how it can be collected in a relevant way, and how it will be used to support concrete, smart measures tailored to local realities.

For SPARK, meetings like this mean more than consultation. They stand for practical dialogue, shared learning, and the joint building of a local vision for more sustainable mobility.

📍 In Alba Iulia, SPARK brings together ideas, institutions, and concrete steps for change.

Good Practices in Motion

Across Europe, partners in the SPARK – Interreg Europe project are working together to identify and document good practices in urban mobility – solutions that already work and can inspire other cities and regions.

From cycling infrastructure and smart public transport solutions to digital platforms and road safety innovations, each partner contributes real-life examples that can be adapted and replicated across Europe.

🔎 These examples will become part of the SPARK shared toolbox – a growing collection of practical solutions designed to help cities move faster from ideas to implementation.

Together, we turn local experience into European inspiration.

🚀 Big step forward for SPARK! Across our European partnership, cities and regions are actively shaping the Local Analysis Reports—the “mobility snapshot” that shows what’s working, what’s missing, and where policy can make the biggest difference for greener everyday travel. 🌍🚦🚌🚲

So, what’s a Local Analysis Report in simple terms?
It’s a local mobility “reality check” that captures:
✅ what works well and what needs improvement
✅ key challenges and opportunities (including SWOT insights from local stakeholders)
✅ the local governance and policy context
✅ the level of digitalisation and how data can better support decision-making
✅ promising practices that can be shared and adapted across territories
👉 What’s next?
Partners will compare findings, identify transferable good practices, and work towards better policy instruments for greener, safer and more efficient urban mobility — turning knowledge into action where it matters most: in everyday travel. 🌱🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚌

🇪🇸 Horta Nord accelerates local dialogue in !

The first meeting with local stakeholders took place on 15 January 2026, with a clear message: real solutions emerge when we sit at the same table (public authorities, experts, public passenger transport operators, and the community).

💡 Key priorities were clearly identified:
✅ better connections between municipalities
✅ attractive alternatives to private car use
✅ intermodality and active mobility
✅ quick wins + long-term measures with impact

Next step: a Local Action Plan shaped by on-the-ground needs, for mobility that is safer, greener, and smarter.

✨🚦🌍The „engine“ of change is running at maximum power!

SPARK partners, together with regional experts, have begun exploring their cities and regions to uncover the solutions that truly work — initiatives that have made mobility easier, cities more people-friendly, and urban life better. Each region will select two good practices with real potential to inspire other communities across Europe.

Behind the scenes, the Local Analysis Reports and the Joint Guidance for policy improvement are taking shape — key tools that will turn these examples into replicable models for other cities and regions.

🔍 What’s next?
• exploring success stories from the field
• connecting ideas and people across regions
• preparing resources that will guide SPARK cooperation in the next stages

Stay tuned to discover the selected good practices, the findings of the local analyses, and the upcoming Common Guide for better policies!
