We’ve been shortlisted in the Doha Design District Public Art Competition with our design titled, ‘Celebrating Forgotten Spaces’, outlined in brief below:

The design involves making gentle interventions into the nooks & crannies, discrete alleyways (sikka), back alleys, awkward building niches, cul-de-sacs, and omitted, ignored, or forgotten spaces that saturate our built environments.
Upon closer inspection, these spaces serve an essential, often utilitarian, purpose, and possess a unique quality.
The work is subtle and temporary, and involves using wafer thin layers of metal leaf (in gold, silver or copper) that’s applied onto the hard surfaces, the wall and floor-planes, of a defined space in Downtown Msheireb.
The intent of this work is to whisper, not shout. It invites you in, subtly provoking your curiosity, inviting one to explore, to touch, and to reveal something unexpected in each of the chosen locales. By elevating and framing their setting, these places act as venues celebrating our everyday routines.

If you respond to the above, please feel free to vote for it through the link provided at Doha Design District or through the link in our title bar…

The deadline for voting is June 25.
