An Islamic teacher and mother of more than five children, Malama Ummulkhairi, was brutally k!ll€d and her body burned by a mob in Maraban Jos, Kaduna State, on June 21, 2026, after she was falsely accused of attempting to steal children. According to reports, she had become separated from her companions while attending an Islamic lecture and was asking local children for directions when residents began spreading the allegation.

Police initially took her into protective custody and family members tried to identify her and calm the situation, but an angry crowd later stormed the police station, overpowered officers, dragged her out, and killed her before setting her body on fire. The Kaduna State Police Command condemned the attack as a barbaric act of jungle justice, confirmed that several suspects had been arrested, and pledged to ensure that all those responsible face prosecution.
