"Displaying Design: History, Criticism and Curatorial Discourses" - 2023 edition of the Design History Society Annual Conference, an international event dedicated to research and critical debate around the history of design.

Organised this year by esad—idea, the conference promotes a Call for Papers and Panels that encourages the submission of creative and original proposals that surprise, re-learn and rethink the history, and histories, of design.

The exhibition “Here and There” addresses the creative evolution of contemporary Macao designers, with a selection of surprising projects.
For 35 years, Macao designers have used their passion and professionalism to promote the local design on the international stage. Over the past 10 years, they have won prestigious awards in many important international design competitions and it was through this means that the studios expanded their businesses and projects across the globe.
Therefore, the most representative works from various Macaense studios from the last twenty years were selected to be included in this exhibition. Portugal is Macao’s cradle of culture, art, and life, which integrates and impacts with the native Chinese traditional culture, becoming into an distinguished advantage for Macao.
This exhibition is a joint project of Macau Designers Association (MDA) in partnership with the Portuguese Cultural Association (ACPT) and Roca Lisboa Gallery, with the sponsorship of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government.
