As good as fire refines gold, reveals the beauty that is made of and make it attractive to all, if gold stays longer in fire than the set time, its beauty will be destroyed completely and render it useless.
So is for you. Yes challenges are part of life like the Bible stated, you will surely go through fire but never said the fire will be your habitation. If you notice you are staying longer than normal in that challenge, quickly go to God who said you will only go through fire and not stay in there and present your strong reasons. Because if you stay more than normal like the gold, you will loose your beauty, become useless and the purpose of you going through that challenge will be defeated.
Never think or believe that God is teaching you lessons by perpetually staying in problem, He has nothing to gain. In fact, He said in 2 Cor. 4:17, that your affliction is suppose to be light and it's for a moment - has an expiry date.
Never believe the lies of the devil that you become more closer to God when you live a life of troubles. That was the reason He quickly appeared in the fire to rescue the 3 Hebrews when they were thrown into the furnace.
Passing through fire refines you while staying in the fire destroys you. Be wiser than the devil.
