The Informed Perspective
Three guests. One shared truth, listening is hard work.
„Listening is never about you. It’s always about the other.” — Corinne Jansen, Global Listening Movement
„When people really want to be listened to, there’s often a kind of undercurrent of… is it safe? Will I be judged?” — Jenny Smith, receptive listening practitioner
„In order for young people to be able to talk to adults — particularly to parents — they have to feel that they’re being listened to.” — Dr. John Coleman OBE, psychologist & author
Real listening isn’t about having the right words. It’s about creating the right conditions. Safety first. Presence first. The other person first, always.
This is what our latest Perspectives episode is really about. And it’s the heart of everything we do at The Informed Perspective, including our Are You REALLY Listening? events, where we create intentional space for parents and young people to genuinely hear each other.

Who in your world isn’t being heard? 👀
Do you feel heard? Who listens to you best and who listens to you worst? And who do we not listen to enough?
These are the questions we’re exploring and more and we need your honest answers.
Take our listening survey (link in bio) — it takes 2 minutes and your voice genuinely matters.

We can’t have an “informed perspective” if we’re only listening to the loudest people in the room.
Who in your world isn’t being heard right now? Tag a person, a group, or a cause that needs more ears on it. 📢
Affluent neglect was once reserved for the wealthy, absent parents replaced by nannies and boarding schools.
But digital neglect? That’s available to all of us now. A phone in hand, eyes somewhere else, presence somewhere else entirely.
It’s not a class issue anymore. It’s a human one.

This episode is one we have wanted to make for a long time. 🎙️
Tweens — ages 9 to 13 — are one of the most underserved age groups in conversations about child development, digital wellbeing, and mental health. And yet this is one of the most important windows of a young person's life.
It's why we founded Tween Talk. And it's why this conversation matters so much to us.
In our latest Perspectives podcast we sit down with Dr Mark Yeowell of Digital Tweens, who introduces the concept of digital puberty, and Jenny Warwick, BACP accredited counsellor, who reminds us that connection doesn't have to be complicated.
Sometimes it's as simple as sitting with your tween while they play Roblox. You might even enjoy it. 😊
Being let into their world is a privilege worth showing up for.
The window is still open. This episode is about how we use it.

The digital world is a social experiment, but your parenting doesn’t have to be!
This episode of Perspectives is a special one with the raw, honest perspective of a Gen X parent (Chris) and Gen Z youth (Lily) on what it was really like parenting & growing up in the digital unchartered deep end.
Their lived experience is the perfect compliment to Parven Kaur’s practical advice including her tactical due diligence flip tip, turning app requests into kid-led research projects. Genius!
Rules are easy. Relationships are the real work. We discuss how open communication should be leading the way.
