Failsafes are part of the mission
Autonomy is not only about normal operation.

During an inspection mission, the system must react when something goes wrong:
⚠️ GNSS degradation
📡 communication loss
🌬️ wind limits exceeded

Instead of failing suddenly, autonomy moves through defined states:
✅ normal operation
🛡️ degraded mode (slower, safer)
🏠 safe action (hold position, return home, controlled landing)

Failsafes are not an emergency feature.
They are designed into the mission logic from the start.

Simulation alone is not enough.

With Hardware-In-The-Loop (HIL) testing, we connect real hardware (electronics, sensors, controllers) to a simulated world.

The software thinks it is flying a real drone, but everything happens safely on the desk.

This lets us check:
🔸timing and delays,
🔸communication between components,
🔸safety logic and failure cases.

HIL helps us find problems before real flights and reduces risk during field tests.
