After playing several dozen concerts its sound was augmented by synthesizers, thus changing the character of their music into a more psychedelic one, with trance (?) drums and improvising guitars and electronics. In 2005 they released an unofficial EP, recorded with Jacaszek, and in 2008 their debut album, called “All the Old Women of the Town”, appeared on the market. Receiving several awards, in
cluding ‘The Album of the Year’ (Radio Gra), and to much positive critical acclaim of the press, the album was aired by many Polish radio stations, earning it the title of the most promising debut of the year. The band has never stopped looking for their own unique style and over the past few years has developed their music into a blend of dreamy ambience and rough sounds. They play many concerts throughout the country, equally in clubs, pubs, and big music events like OFF Festival. It is the outcome of their recent musical quest and comprises of 10 massive, Slavic-spirited (słowiańskie, nie słowackie, tak?)compositions, successfully evoking a decadent, apocalyptic atmosphere. Already on first listening one instantly recognizes that “Weird Polonia” does not follow the latest fads and is not out for easy praise. Instead, it tells a personal {?} story which might have taken place at the end of the world, and only in Poland. Reluctant however to define their style, the musicians of Hotel Kosmos say: “In our music we use guitars, bass, drums and synthesizers but we don’t think that it obliges us to anything”.
