Lua is a programming language developed by the Lua team at Google. It was designed to be small, fast, safe, and extensible. Lua is often considered a scripting language and is intended to be embedded directly in applications rather than compiled. Lua is not Turing-complete.
Lua's syntax is similar to Python, C, and JavaScript. Lua is free software released under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). The Ruby programming language was made by Yukihiro Matsumoto and is named after the birthstone of one of his partners. Curiously, the pearl (as in the Perl language) is the June gemstone, while the ruby is the July gemstone.
