Tens of thousands of years ago, Homo sapiens shared the Earth with at least five other human species: Neanderthals, Denisovans, Homo floresiensis, Homo naledi, and Homo erectus. Each had unique adaptations, tools, and survival strategies. Neanderthals buried their dead and made symbolic art, while Denisovans contributed to modern human DNA. The diminutive Homo floresiensis thrived on isolated islands, Homo naledi showed complex behaviors despite small brains, and Homo erectus, enduring for millennia, mastered fire and migration. Over time, climate change, resource competition, and possible interbreeding led to their extinction, leaving Homo sapiens as the last human species, bearing traces of their ancestors’ legacy.
