Parallel lines = same gradient. Every time! π
Edexcel GCSE mock prep:
Find the equation of the line through C(0,3) parallel to AB.
β‘οΈ A(0,β2), B(β4, 2)
β‘οΈ Gradient m = (2β(β2)) Γ· (β4β0) = 4Γ·β4 = β1
β‘οΈ y-intercept = 3
β‘οΈ Equation: y = βx + 3 β

Inside the circle = 2 intersections. Always! π΅
Edexcel GCSE mock prep:
Show any line through (1,2) cuts xΒ² + yΒ² = 16 at two points.
β‘οΈ r = 4
β‘οΈ 1Β² + 2Β² = 5 β β5 < 4
β‘οΈ (1,2) is INSIDE β any line must cross twice β
No guessing. Pure logic. Full marks! π‘

Inside or outside the circle? π΅ That's the question!
Today's Edexcel GCSE session: Show any straight line through (1,2) intersects xΒ² + yΒ² = 16 at two points.
β‘οΈ Circle has centre (0,0), radius = 4
β‘οΈ Check (1,2): 1Β² + 2Β² = 5
β‘οΈ β5 < 4 β point lies INSIDE the circle β
If a point is inside a circle β any line through it MUST cross the circle twice. Elegant logic! π‘

Ratio in real life β cupcakes edition! π§
Todayβs Cambridge Grade 7 session:
A bakery sells 300 cupcakes. Chocolate : Vanilla = 2:3. How many vanilla?
β‘οΈ Total parts = 5
β‘οΈ 1 part = 300 Γ· 5 = 60
β‘οΈ Vanilla = 60 Γ 3 = 180 β

Graphs of Linear Equations β exam season is HERE! π
Edexcel GCSE mock prep this week:
ABCD is a rectangle. Line AB: y = 2x + 1
Find the equation of line DC through C(0,6).
β‘οΈ Same gradient (parallel lines) β m = 2
β‘οΈ y-intercept = 6
β‘οΈ Equation: y = 2x + 6 β
