Policy Talk is hosted by two observants of the policy and development issues in Gilgit-Baltistan............Dr. Saranjam Baig and Dr. Mehfoozullah. As a freelance consultant, he has been working with renowned institutions like BSDR,, AKF-Geneva, AKRSP, SJCPP etc. He teaches International Political Economy at Sultan Qaboos University and economics, Development policy, and public policy at Karakoram
International University, Gilgit Pakistan. Dr. Baig has also taught at the University of La Verne, California. As the founding director of the Center for Research on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he has authored and co-authored publications on the impact and implications of BRI and CPEC. Dr. Baig has been appointed as a member of Technical Working Group (TWG) on PSDP at the Planning Commission, Pakistan. He is also working with Soni Jawari Center for Public Policy [SJCPP) Government of Gilgit-Baltistan as a consultant. He holds a PhD in Economics and Politics from Claremont Graduate University in Greater Los Angeles. He also holds an MA degree in Economics from the same school and an MS degree in Development Studies from the University of Glasgow, Scotland UK. Dr. Baig also writes editorial columns, although intermittently, for Daily Dawn, a leading English newspaper in Pakistan. In his mid-twenties, he co-founded the first commerce college for undergraduate studies in Gilgit-Baltistan province of Pakistan. Dr. Baig has recently started his new venture, Gilgit Institute for Social and Economic Research (GISER) in Gilgit.
