PKOC, AFP Showcases Filipino Peacekeepers During the 78th International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers Celebration
Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac | 29 May 2026 – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), through the Peacekeeping Operations Center, AFP (PKOC, AFP) under the leadership of COLONEL WARLITO A LIMET ARM (GSC) PA, joined the observance of the 78th International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers with the theme “Invest in Peace.”
Hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the celebration was held at the Music Hall, SM Mall of Asia, bringing together government officials, diplomats, United Nations representatives, peacekeeping advocates, and members of the public to honor the dedication and sacrifices of UN peacekeepers worldwide.
The event formally commenced with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting led by Hon. Ezzedin H. Tago, Undersecretary of the DFA; Mr. Arnaud Peral, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in the Philippines; H.E. Ambassador Dr. Andreas Michael Pfaffernoschke, Ambassador of Germany to the Philippines; Mr. Joaquin L. San Agustin, Executive Vice President for Marketing of SM Supermalls; Hon. Angelito M. De Leon, Undersecretary for Defense Affairs of the DND; and Hon. Rolando C. Puno, Undersecretary for Public Affairs and Communications of the DILG.
In his welcome remarks, Usec. Tago underscored the Philippines’ enduring commitment to United Nations peacekeeping operations. Messages were also delivered by Mr. Peral, Ambassador Pfaffernoschke, and Mr. San Agustin, highlighting the significant contributions of peacekeepers in promoting global peace and security. A special musical performance by Formula 5 added inspiration to the celebration, while Usec. De Leon and Usec. Puno delivered the closing remarks.
A key highlight of the event was the interactive peacekeeping exhibit organized by PKOC, AFP, showcasing the AFP’s contributions to UN peacekeeping missions. The exhibit featured authentic mission memorabilia, peacekeeping equipment, photo galleries, a UN-themed photo booth, UN-marked vehicles, and displays of male and female Filipino peacekeepers, including women peacekeepers wearing UN-issued hijabs.
Visitors enthusiastically explored the exhibit, interacted with peacekeepers, wore selected peacekeeping gear, and toured UN-marked vehicles, gaining a deeper appreciation of the courage, professionalism, and service of Filipino peacekeepers deployed in mission areas around the world.
The exhibit serves as a testament to the Philippines’ continuing commitment to international peace and security and honors the men and women who proudly represent the nation in United Nations peacekeeping operations.

AFPPKOC OPENS THE 10TH ASEAN PEACEKEEPING CENTERS NETWORK MEETING
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), through the AFP Peacekeeping Operations Center (AFPPKOC), formally opened the 10th ASEAN Peacekeeping Centers Network (APCN) Meeting on 04 May 2026 at Headquarters AFPPKOC, Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac. The activity gathered delegates from ASEAN Member States and representatives from the United Nations in a continuing effort to strengthen regional peacekeeping cooperation and capability development.
Despite the transition from an intended in-person engagement to a virtual platform, the opening ceremony highlighted ASEAN’s unity and resilience in sustaining collaboration amid evolving peace and security challenges. The meeting also reaffirmed the commitment of ASEAN peacekeeping centers to enhance interoperability, harmonize training and doctrine, and promote inclusivity in peacekeeping operations.
During the opening ceremony, Colonel Warlito A. Limet ARM (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of AFPPKOC, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of sustained partnership and cooperation in addressing the increasing complexities of modern peacekeeping operations.
The ceremony was graced by General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., PA, Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines, as Guest of Honor and Speaker. In his message, he underscored the vital role of ASEAN unity, shared standards, and collective preparedness in maintaining regional stability and advancing global peace efforts.
Anchored on the theme, “Sustaining Partnership and Cooperation Amidst Evolving Peace Operations,” the 10th APCN Meeting serves as a platform for exchanging best practices, sharing operational insights, and strengthening collaboration among ASEAN peacekeeping centers in support of United Nations peacekeeping initiatives.
