Sometimes, the Best Message Comes From Our Children

We just finished our family worship tonight, and I felt moved to share something that touched my heart deeply.

Part of our worship was a simple activity where each of us answered two questions:

1. What are three things you want to thank God for, and why?
2. What is one thing you want to ask from the Lord?

The order was Daddy, Mommy, Ate, Kuya, and then Baby Ash.

When it was Baby Ash’s turn, my five-year-old simply said that one of the things he wanted to thank God for was our family loving one another.

My heart melted.

But what touched me even more was hearing the children's prayers and wishes.

My second child’s one request was not for himself. He said that he wanted to ask the Lord to heal his Mommy Grand.

Then Baby Ash followed and said that he would ask God to heal Inay’s knees.

Honestly, I did not expect that their little hearts would choose to ask God for something not for themselves, but for someone they love.

At that moment, I realized that sometimes, we adults can become so focused on our own needs, problems, and unanswered prayers that we forget the beauty of simply praying for someone else.

Before we prayed, I shared with them one of my favorite Bible verses:

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” — Mark 11:24

Then we sang our closing song, and Daddy led us in our closing prayer.

As I listened to my children pray, my heart was filled with gratitude.

Tonight, I felt so blessed.

Not because everything in our family is perfect.
Not because all our prayers have already been answered.
But because God allowed me to witness something beautiful in the hearts of my children.
Sometimes, the best message comes from our children.
Their simple words reminded me that faith does not always need complicated words. Sometimes, it sounds like a five-year-old saying:

“Lord, please heal Inay’s knees.”

Sometimes, a child’s prayer teaches us what genuine love looks like.

To pray for others.
To remember those who are hurting.
To be thankful for family.
And to trust that God hears even the smallest voice lifted in prayer.

Tonight, I am reminded that our children are not only learning from us, we are also learning from them.

May we never underestimate the little lessons God places in the hearts of our children.

And may our homes always be places where children learn that when someone is hurting, we pray.

When someone is sick, we pray.
When we are thankful, we pray.
And when we have a desire in our hearts, we bring it to Jesus.

Thank You, Lord, for the gift of family.
Thank You for the innocent faith of children.
And thank You for reminding me tonight that sometimes, the sweetest sermons are not preached from a pulpit, they come from the lips of our children.

“Let the little children come to me…” — Matthew 19:14

Tonight, my heart is simply grateful.
