If you ask a Filipino making ₱50,000 to ₱80,000 a month if they are wealthy, they will usually say, "No, but I am comfortably middle class."
They have a car loan. They go to cafes on the weekend. They have a nice smartphone.
But from a macroeconomic perspective, the Philippine middle class is an absolute illusion. Why? Because true wealth isn't measured by your car; it is measured by your safety net.
Welcome to the terror of Out-of-Pocket Healthcare.
In first-world countries (like Canada or the UK), if you get cancer or have a massive stroke, the government’s universal healthcare system absorbs the multi-million dollar blow. You get sick, you get treated, and your bank account stays intact.
In the Philippines, an unexpected medical emergency is a financial death sentence.
If a parent suddenly needs a bypass surgery, or a child requires a month in the ICU, PhilHealth only covers a fraction of the cost. The family is suddenly slammed with a ₱2 Million to ₱5 Million hospital bill.
Because we lack comprehensive universal healthcare, the so-called "middle class" is instantly wiped out. They are forced to sell their cars, mortgage their family homes, max out their credit cards, and beg for donations online.
It takes ten years of hard work, overtime, and saving to build a middle-class life in the Philippines. And it takes exactly three weeks in a private hospital ICU to completely erase it, sending the entire family back into generational poverty.
You can change the trajectory of your family’s future just by planning carefully and intentionally...

Bakit pag kotse ang hanap natin parati yung top of the line? Pag gadgets yun high-end. Pero pag insurance, ang madalas na tanong, magkano ang minimum?
It's not enough na insured lang tayo. Dapat sapat! Mas okay nga kung sobra pa sa sapat! Ito yun tips on how to get adequately insured:
1) Set a meeting with an Insurance Advisor. Ask for a Financial Needs Analysis. It's not enough na magbabase lang tayo sa sample proposal. Unless alam mo na kung magkano ang need mo na insurance or yun nalang talaga kailangan mo to supplement whatever you have.
.. wag niyo din tanungin lahat sa text. Set a call or an online meeting. Mahirap sagutin lahat ng mga tanong via text. May mga bagay na mas maganda pag ini-explain ng personal or via zoom or call. 😁
2) By getting adequately insured, it doesn't necessarily mean that you'll get all the insurance coverage you need all at once. Pwedeng smaller amount muna or depende sa budget. Para at least you know your numbers and you know how much you really need. Then unti-unti mo nalang dagdagan at kumpletuhin.
3) And... know your reasons in getting an insurance:
✅ For your family, to protect your income. Para may maiwan kang amount for them in case
something happens to you as a breadwinner.
✅ For critical illness. In case you get a major illness, meron kang fund for that.
✅ For your kids, para no matter what happens, your kids can still go to college, or at least para di mahirapan yun spouse mo to fund for your kids' tuition fee.
✅ For estate tax. Life insurance can be used to pay for estate taxes of all your assets.
✅ To create an estate or pamana. Para may maiwan kang kayamaman sa mga anak mo.
✅ Or for final expenses. Pwedeng magamit ang insurance for funeral expenses. Pambayad sa last bill sa hospital, or sa mga nautang ng family for health expenses.
.. And a lot more reasons...
Just remember this:
One of the BEST GIFTS you could give to your family is a LIFE INSURANCE protection. Getting a little insurance coverage is better than having no coverage at all.
And... Not saving and investing early when we are still young, and not getting insurance when we are still healthy, are the most common financial regrets when time is no longer our ally.
Happy Investing! 💙

Life insurance is not about predicting tragedy.
It’s about refusing to let tragedy erase your family’s progress.
Protection is not an expense.
It is a responsibility — and an act of love.
