In a world obsessed with perfection, let’s talk about what makes us real.
As major fashion magazines and brands begin experimenting with AI-generated models, it’s sparked more than just a trend. It’s stirred a conversation that cuts deep into the core of the creative world.
Yes, business will always look for efficiency. And yes, AI models can replace humans. But should they?
Absolutely not.
More than 8 billion people, each seeking representation, not perfection, the move toward digital models risks erasing the very thing fashion should celebrate: diversity, individuality, reality.
We’ve fought through eras of exclusion, from eugenics to racism, and only recently begun embracing the richness of representation. To revert now would be more than regressive; it would be irresponsible. Fashion has always been more than fabric and runways—it reflects who we are, where we come from, and what we dare to dream. Just as we’ve begun to embrace true diversity across race, age, size, gender, and ability, we’re now faced with an industry trend that threatens to erase it.
Here’s the truth:
The one thing AI can never replicate is texture.
The texture of skin that tells stories.
The fine lines, scars, freckles, pores, and glow—markings of time, identity, and life lived.
Just like the intricate beading on couture gowns, the grain in leather, or the weave in silk, human texture is a luxury in itself. It grounds us in reality. It reminds us that beauty isn't just seen, it's felt.
So let’s keep showing the world what real looks like.
Unfiltered. Unretouched. Undeniably human.
Let’s keep our textures alive. 🧡
