CM FARM BASKETBALL
Mayor Kirk Asis Open Invitational Basketball Tournament 2026

First and foremost, we sincerely apologize to the people of Bayugan City, our supporters, and everyone who witnessed the unfortunate events during the championship game against La Salle.

We would like to present our side of what transpired.

At the 5:28 mark of the second quarter, with the score CM Farm Basketball 25 – 33 La Salle, play was stopped after our coaching staff questioned a call made by one of the referees, specifically the technical foul assessed against our head coach after he reacted to what he believed was a missed call.

Our team formally requested the replacement of the referee involved. However, the tournament committee declined our request, stating that the tournament was being conducted under the Official FIBA Rules, and that referee substitutions could not be made on that basis.

Following discussions between the tournament organizers, commissioner, and our team management, we were assured that the game would continue with fair and impartial officiating. Based on those assurances, our management agreed to resume the game.

We also want to clarify that CM Farm Basketball did not intentionally delay the game. We had already raised our concern through the proper channel and were waiting for the organizers' official decision. The delay of more than an hour resulted from the ongoing discussions and the organizers' deliberation, not from any refusal by our team to continue playing.

Since the organizers cited the Official FIBA Rules as the governing rules of the tournament, we believe that all applicable game procedures should likewise have been properly implemented and clearly communicated to both teams. Throughout the entire discussion, our team was never formally informed that a forfeiture procedure had already been initiated, nor were we advised that any official time limit to resume play had begun. There was also no visible countdown or formal announcement informing both teams of the consequences of failing to resume play within a specified period.

We respectfully believe that, if the tournament was indeed governed by the Official FIBA Rules, then all related procedures and protocols should have been applied consistently, transparently, and communicated equally to both participating teams.

CM Farm Basketball has always respected the game, the officials, and the tournament organizers. Our intention was never to abandon the championship game, but to raise what we believed to be a legitimate concern regarding the officiating while following the proper process.

We respectfully ask the public to refrain from speculation and allow the facts to speak for themselves. We appreciate the continued support of our fans and the basketball community.

To the organizer, may we call your attention to Section 10 of the Official FIBA Rules, which we believe was grossly violated.
