Perennial qualifier Sebastian Aguilar of Spottswood National High School, District 3, stamped his authority on the table and showed his lethal form after snatching a clean 3-0 (11-9, 15-13, 12-10) sweep against the former bronze medalist Denzel Kurt Mateo of District 1 during the 2026 Kidapawan City Division Athletic Association Meet, Table Tennis Singles held at the Convention Hall in Kidapawan City, February 18.
Through hard-hitting smashes intact with fiery determination, Aguilar unleashed a series of forehand attacks that outwitted his opponent, generating a total of 5 forehand smash, 2 backhand smash, and 3 side spins that allowed him to clinch his spot for the quarterfinals.
โFirst of all, I wanted to thank God for this experience na makalaban nako ni sila karon, and I would also like to give thanks sa akong coach,โ Aguilar stated in a post-match interview.
Mateo of City High attempted to catch up, seizing multiple ties and tense deadlocks on the match score, keeping the rally tight and competitive but it was not enough to stop Aguilarโs rampage as he swung the momentum back in his favor, obtaining his redemption and never looked back as he coasted to victory with a set score of 3-0.
โGina throw nalang nako akong mga matches, wala na nako gina gamit ang mga strategies nako dati kay wala nako nafocusan og maayo ang table tennis since I'm a multi-sport enthusiast,โ said Mateo.
