What if promotions for public school teachers followed a structured, service-driven progression?

Proposed timeline:
5 years in service – Teacher I to Teacher II
10 years in service – Teacher II to Teacher III
15 years in service – Teacher III to Teacher IV
20 years in service – Teacher IV to Teacher V
25 years in service – Teacher V to Teacher VI
30 years in service – Teacher VI to Teacher VII

Let’s be clear: this is not an official policy from DepEd, not a formal directive, and not part of any confirmed ECP framework. This is simply a proposal meant to open discussion on a long-standing concern among educators:

Should years of faithful, consistent service lead to a more defined and reliable promotion system?

This idea reflects a reality many teachers face:

many remain stuck in the same position for years;
many dedicate decades without real career advancement;
many hope for a system that is clearer, fairer, and more compassionate.

At the same time, it invites important reflection:

Should tenure alone determine promotion?
Should evaluation still consider performance, skills, and qualifications?
Is it possible to balance experience and merit in a way that truly honors teachers?

This is not misinformation,.it is an advocacy, a starting point for dialogue.

The intention is simple: to express what countless teachers have long been asking for, career growth that offers dignity, stability, and recognition of their years of service.

Teachers should not be left waiting indefinitely.
Teachers deserve a system that values both commitment and competence.
Teachers deserve to have their voices acknowledged.
