A group of people desirous to promote countryside banking in Laguna organized the Laguna Development Bank (LDB) on May 8, 1961. LDB began operation with nine employees and a paid-up capital of P 1 million. In 1975, the name Luzon Development Bank was adopted when decided to expand operation beyond the Province of Laguna.
