VERTICAL GARDEN
As part of the implementation of the National Service Training Program (NSTP), the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) of NVC conducted an environmental training activity designed to promote environmental awareness, food sustainability, and community responsibility among students. During the activity, students were organized into groups and assigned designated garden plots where they planted their selected vegetable seeds and crops. This hands-on training allowed the students to actively participate in the process of land preparation, planting, and garden management, giving them practical knowledge and experience in basic agricultural practices. Through this activity, students were encouraged to appreciate the value of teamwork, responsibility, and environmental stewardship while understanding the importance of preserving and utilizing available resources for sustainable living.
The training also aimed to help students recognize the vital role of agriculture as one of the primary sources of food for every family and community. By engaging directly in planting activities, students gained a deeper understanding of how food begins from the soil and the dedication required to produce it. The activity emphasized that even through simple backyard gardening, families can have access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food while reducing household expenses. More importantly, it instilled in the students the importance of food security, self-sufficiency, and the value of hard work, inspiring them to apply these practices in their own homes and become advocates of sustainable agriculture within their communities.

Legal awareness took focus as Atty. Saykeme Martelino discussed key provisions of the Bawal Bastos Law and gender-based sexual harassment, equipping students with knowledge on womenβs rights and the protections afforded to them.
Open discussions after each segment allowed students to voice their thoughts and engage directly with the speakers, creating an interactive and reflective atmosphere.
Bringing the program to a close, Dr. Vicente S. Quimpo, NVC CRCY Co-Adviser, delivered his final message before guest speakers were formally recognized through the awarding of tokens and certificates.

On March 14, 2026, Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) students continued the implementation of the Vertical Gardening Activity as part of the Environmental Protection module of the training program. Following the previous lecture and plot distribution, students returned to their designated planting areas to add more vegetable seedlings and plants to their assigned plots. The activity allowed students to further apply the knowledge and skills they learned by actively participating in the development and maintenance of their small garden spaces.
Through this hands-on activity, students were able to strengthen their understanding of sustainable food production while working cooperatively within their groups. The planting activity also encouraged teamwork, responsibility, and continuous care for the environment as students nurtured their growing gardens. By adding more plants to their plots, the students contributed to the goal of promoting food sustainability and environmental awareness within the community.

The NSTP Department proudly announces the successful participation of its students in the Dugong Bombo 2025 Blood Donation Drive held on November 15, 2025, at the NVC Gymnasium. The activity was conducted in partnership with Bombo Radyo Philippines, the Philippine Red Cross, and the Dugong Bombo Team, as part of their ongoing civic initiative to ensure a stable and safe supply of blood for medical emergencies across the nation.

Throughout the activity, NSTP students were oriented, screened, and guided by trained medical professionals and Red Cross personnel. Successful donors received a Philippine Red Cross Donorβs Card, a Dugong Bombo T-shirt, and free snacks as tokens of appreciation.
As the NSTP continues its efforts to promote civic consciousness, the department reaffirms its dedication to shaping responsible and compassionate citizens. This blood donation drive stands as a testament to the studentsβ willingness to serve and their vital contribution to saving lives.
