BAND TIP OF THE WEEKEND, SOUND CHECK LIKE ITS A SHOW.
A lot of bands treat soundcheck like a warm-up instead of a rehearsal for what’s coming. But how you soundcheck is usually how you’ll sound live. If you play half-hearted or too quiet, the sound tech will mix you for that volume — and when you go full throttle on stage, everything will clip or distort.
Soundcheck is the time to find your balance. Play a real song, at full performance volume, so your levels, vocals, and monitors are accurate. Treat it like part of your show, not a chore.
