🪶 Sons da Reserva: Quem estava cantando?

No áudio da semana passada, muitos sons ecoavam pela floresta… mas o protagonista era o Tinamus solitarius, o emblemático macuco! 🐦🌿

Ave terrícola, robusta e discreta, o macuco caminha silenciosamente pelo sub-bosque da Mata Atlântica, geralmente próximo a riachos bem preservados. Seu canto característico, com assobios espaçados como “fruu”, pode ser mais fácil de ouvir do que de localizar — uma estratégia que ajuda a confundir predadores.

Espécie tímida e ameaçada pelo desmatamento, o macuco é um importante símbolo das florestas primárias conservadas.

Last week’s audio featured many forest sounds… but the main singer was Tinamus solitarius, the iconic solitary tinamou! 🐦🌿

A robust and secretive ground-dwelling bird, the solitary tinamou quietly walks through the Atlantic Forest understory, usually near well-preserved streams. Its characteristic spaced whistles, like “fruu,” are often easier to hear than to locate — an evolutionary strategy that helps confuse predators.

Shy and threatened by deforestation, this species is an important symbol of well-preserved primary forests.
