What is the difference between Vitamin C and Ascorbic Acid?
Generally, A vitamin is: “a working process consisting of the nutrient, enzymes, coenzymes, antioxidants, and trace minerals activators.” Royal Lee “What Is a Vitamin?” Applied Trophology, Aug 1956
Ascorbic acid is part of the structure of Vitamin C but not entirely Vitamin C. It works as eggshell to protect the egg from the risks.
“Ascorbic acid is described merely as the “antioxidant wrapper” portion of vitamin C; ascorbic acid protects the functional parts of the vitamin from rapid oxidation or breakdown”.
Vitamin C isn’t a specific substance. It’s any substance that performs a certain function in the body. Ascorbic acid is one of those substances (known as vitamers) for vitamin C.
Real vitamin C is part of something living, and as such, can impart life.
