Royal Oman Police (ROP) detained an individual for the possession and trafficking of illegal narcotics. During the operation, police seized large quantities of he**in and psychotropic substances intended for both distribution and personal consumption.

Oman’s population reached 5.39 million at the end of May 2026, marking a 1.6 percent increase compared with the same period last year, according to the latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

Muscat Governorate remained the country’s most populous region, with 1,538,312 residents, accounting for 28.6 percent of Oman’s total population of 5,388,513.

According to the NCSI’s monthly statistical bulletin, North Al Batinah ranked second with 945,647 residents, representing 17.6 percent of the population, while South Al Batinah followed with 589,152 residents, or 10.9 percent.
