Today is the 6th anniversary of the death of Constable Matthew Hunt, killed in the line of duty on the 19th of June 2020.
I spoke with Matt’s mum Diane this morning. Time doesn’t help reduce the pain, and the milestones don’t become easier over time. We will never forget you or your sacrifice Matthew.

With and last week to see the new prison build in Hawke’s Bay. Great to visit the site and see the impressive construction work underway. Adding more capacity and resilience to our prison system is about keeping Kiwis and our hard working prison staff safe.
I’m excited to be in Papatoetoe today to announce a big summer of international cricket, with 42 days of matches featuring our Black Caps and White Ferns against India.
This series also marks the first event in the 100 Years of Unity Through Sport programme, celebrating a century of sporting ties between New Zealand and India.
From Auckland to Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton and Tauranga, communities across New Zealand will have the chance to be part of something special. I look forward to welcoming India to New Zealand for what promises to be a fantastic tour.
