Hey guys,
Late Happy Easter!
I am writing about the super fun National we had last weekend.
As some of you know I was quite nervous the that my little black- point himi boy (Silent night) wouldn't make it, after running out of my grasp in the paddock. The lucky thing about it was that I was sitting down so when he did it he didn't get any injury from that bit of the adventure LUCKY. The subtle bad thing about this was that were he decided to run for it was quite close to our boundary fence to the neighbours paddock.
Luckily we got him back after a tearful afternoon of sadness:( at five past nine that night when we caught him in the live capture rat trap.
We packed our bags and all our 12 groomed guinea pigs into the people mover and dad had to take the passenger seat out to fit everything in and then he still wondered if we would fit but we DID.
It was so fun to go to Orewa and we had a long and busy day at the show. In the pet show Dutchie won the fancy dress (he was Abel Tasman in a boat discovering NZ which was a funny joke because Abel Tasman was Dutch but the Dutch breed of guinea pigs actually is from England). Then in my black point himi classes I won some really nice ribbons and Silent Night got the Black himi trophy which I love so much! At the show dinner that night I was so super excited to get to go up and get my best of breed certificate. I couldn't believe it when I also got the best junior exhibitor award and went up again to shake the 2 judges' hands. Everyone cheered and I almost tiptoed up because I actually thought it couldn't be for me. It was too amazing!!!!!
When we came back to Hamilton I got to go out to the Warehouse to choose what to spend my voucher on. I really wanted it to be something for Silent Night and all my guinea pigs to love. So I got an igloo, cuddly blankets and a wheat bag comforter toy (actually it is for puppies but I will use it for my guinea pigs!). The lady let me keep the voucher once I used it because it is so special to me.
Thank you to the Auckland Cavy Club for the amazing show you did. It was the funnest night of my life and I can't wait for the next one. (I am still going to love my guinea pigs heaps when the horses arrive. I love ponies too but you can't have one in a carrier next to your bed and cuddle them on your chest when you need it like I did after Silent Night came back).
Hi, we are all having a great time here at Astro Cavies!
In this post I am going to talk about the unkind thing that happened with my himi mother Beth yesterday.
We separated my two boys (Silent Night and Milky Way) from my litter of himis about a week ago, and yesterday Beth chased her girl baby, Moonlight, round and round their cage.
This happened just after we had given a prophylactic dose of ivermectin and clipped Beth's nails because they were getting pokey. I have taken Beth and her baby girl out of their house at other times to clean it then put them back in one at a time. I don't know why she was being so mean yesterday. But she was really chasing her baby and wheeking crossly and after a little while she wouldn't let Moonlight go under the sheltered bit of the house. Poor little Moonlight was wheeking sadly so I got Mum to separate them.
I wonder if this often happens with girl cavies? (The first 3 boy baby cavies we ever bought fought really badly but I thought girls from the same family would be ok). Anyway, I still love them all.

Hi, as some of you know we have had both of Mum's lovely whites give birth!
The first litter had two babies, a sow and a boar. We named the boar Pluto because he fell out of the nest and into a pile of grass then turned green! Lol.
We named the sow River Of Stars because she looked like a group of stars twinkling on a river. The second litter had 3 babies (2 sows and a boar) and I named them Crater (the boy), Constellation and Stardust.
An up date on my Himis - they are getting big and cuter by the day!
Their pads and ears are beginning to turn grey, and they are not even two weeks old!
I am so happy that every thing is going well here and that the show is so soon and that all means FUN!
