THE POLARBUILD PROJECT JOURNEY

Stage 3 of 5 | Confirm & Prepare

Before construction begins, it’s important to make sure everything is ready.

This stage is where we finalise the details that help set your project up for success. Pricing is reviewed, selections are confirmed, timelines are established, and the necessary planning takes place to ensure construction can begin smoothly.

While it might seem like the exciting part is still to come, this stage plays a big role in what happens next.

Taking the time to confirm the details before work starts helps create clarity, reduce uncertainty, and ensure everyone is working towards the same outcome.

The goal is simple.

To make sure everything is in place before construction begins, so you can move forward with confidence.

Every great project starts with a vision.

For these homeowners on Oregon Street, it was about making better use of the incredible outlook they already had. The existing deck had served its purpose, but it was time for a space that better suited how they wanted to live and entertain.

Working alongside DK Architecture, that vision has now moved from concept into construction.

Swipe through to follow the journey:
• Where we started
• The proposed design
• Progress on site today
• A closer look at the structural framework taking shape

While the finished deck will be what everyone notices, it's what's underneath that makes the difference. Careful planning, quality materials and solid construction are what create a space that's built to last.

We're looking forward to sharing the next stage as this project continues to come together.

THE POLARBUILD PROJECT JOURNEY

Stage 2 of 5 | Develop Your Plans

Once you’ve shared your vision, it’s time to start turning those ideas into a practical plan.

This stage is all about exploring what’s possible and creating a design that aligns with your property, lifestyle, budget, and long-term goals.

Whether you’re renovating, extending, or building new, there are often a number of paths you could take. The planning process helps identify the options, work through the details, and ensure the project is heading in the right direction before construction begins.

Good planning isn’t about making things complicated.

It’s about making informed decisions early so you can move forward with confidence.

The more thought that’s put into the planning stage, the smoother the building journey tends to be.

Because great projects don’t happen by accident.

They happen through careful planning and preparation.

26 Taupo Street Progress Update

Things are moving quickly at Taupo Street.

Over the past few weeks we've completed the structural framing and now have the roof framing taking shape across the entire build.

Seeing the structure come together is always a milestone. It's the point where plans start becoming spaces, rooms take shape, and the scale of the project really comes to life.

This home is also making the most of its elevated Dunedin outlook, with some impressive harbour views already visible from the roof framing stage.

Next up we'll be continuing with roof completion and preparing the project for the next stage of construction.

Thanks to everyone involved so far.

THE POLARBUILD PROJECT JOURNEY

Stage 1 of 5 | Where Do You Even Start?

One of the most common questions we hear from homeowners is, “Where do I even start?”

You’ve got ideas. You know your home isn’t quite working the way you’d like it to. Maybe you’re thinking about a renovation, an extension, or even building new. But with so many moving parts, it can be hard to know what the first step should be.

The truth is, the first step isn’t plans, pricing, or permits.

It’s getting clear on what you want to achieve.

What isn’t working in your current home? What would make the biggest difference to your day-to-day life? How do you want your home to function for your family in the years ahead?

The clearer your vision, the easier it becomes to make confident decisions throughout the rest of the project.

That’s why every great project starts with a conversation.

Tracy's bathroom renovation wasn't a simple job. We were working with an 1800s stone cottage, no wall access, and walls that weren't square anywhere in the room. That's the kind of site where planning matters more than anything else.

Here's what she told us once it was done: 'Hands down the best experience I have had with a building company after doing many renovations and a complete house build in both Auckland and Dunedin.'

If you've got a tricky site or an older home and you're not sure what's possible, that's exactly the kind of conversation we like having early, before anything's been decided.

What's the trickiest thing about your home you'd want a builder to figure out?

Update from above the harbour.

The roof trusses are now stood across Taupo Street, and from underneath, looking straight up the ridge line, you really get a sense of the scale of this one.
Roofing iron is next, then we're locking it in before winter properly sets in.
Swipe through for a look at where it's at.

What would you want to see next, the roofing iron going on or a look inside the framing?

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT — Taupo Street

A major transformation currently underway above the harbour.

What started as an existing home has evolved into a substantial extension and full-scale reconfiguration, involving extensive excavation, retaining, structural work, and large framing additions.

Projects like this require a huge amount of planning and coordination behind the scenes, and it’s been awesome seeing the vision now start to come together onsite.

Swipe through to see the journey so far — from earthworks through to framing and structural progress, finishing with the final render showing where this project is heading.

Thinking about building, renovating, or extending? We’d love to chat.
