Welcome to Petticoat Project – our dream upcycling workshop - born from a love of vintage finds and a mission to give old stuff a fresh twist. Moving to NZ on a budget soon led me to op shops, where I was amazed by the beauty people toss out. Our home filled up fast with vintage gems, and upcycling became a passion. I say old is the new gold. Restoring items reduces waste, saves energy, and brings

🎄Happy update: SOLD🎄
Scallops & Seaspray Console

I picked up this half-moon table thinking it would be an easy same-day project. But it wasn’t. Not even close. The piece arrived embedded with stubborn grime — the kind that clogs sanding discs in minutes. The top was cracked like its heart was broken. The whole table felt weighed down, and the change happened slower than I expected.

But its bones were too beautiful to ignore. After a deep clean and hours of sanding, the timber finally revealed itself: a gorgeous blend of two iconic New Zealand woods — kauri and rimu, warm and full of character. With every layer removed, the piece felt lighter — visually and energetically.

The top is finished in a soft sage with a hand-painted scallop pattern. The base and apron were restored to highlight the natural grain, and I added delicate botanical engraving to bring out its curves and give it a quiet, refined charm.

Everything was polished with natural carnauba wax to enhance the grain, add a warm subtle shine, and protect the piece for years to come.
What came in broken left bright, light, and beautifully renewed.

Byron Teal Lowboy

🌿 This piece has been great from the beginning but its charm got faded with time. Luckily, some brush strokes made it rise from “farm shed forgotten” back to “boutique hotel centrepiece.”

Now it’s glowing in full teal blue elegance with a soft, romantic lace-style stencil and golden lining. The new hardware and a gently aged finish bring the perfect blend of modern charm + classic character. 🌿

Perfect piece as a hallway statement, a dining room hero, or a bedroom storage beauty. Ready for its next chapter. 💙

Price: $485
Dimensions: 1300 × 450 × 700 mm

Chiffon and Rimu tall boy

A piece with history and now a whole new glow ✨

This beautiful rimu dresser was an abandoned heirloom but had such good bones that I couldn’t resists having a peek under the old coat. After a deep clean, a full strip-back, layers of sanding, and some tender persuasion, the natural rimu grain revealed itself like warm honey. I paired it with a soft chiffon-white body to give it a gentle contrast. New vintage-style handles brought back its elegance, and delicate detailing on the feet and inside the drawers gives it a little moment of personality.

Solid rimu drawers, beautiful curves, and a structure that refused to give up. This tall boy comes with history and heart.

Price: $445
Dimensions: 650x400x950 mm
