ππΈ Happy Bhai Tika! πΈπ
Today marks the final and most heartfelt day of Tihar β Bhai Tika, a celebration of the sacred bond between brothers and sisters. πͺβ¨
According to legend, Yama, the god of death, visited his sister Yamuna. She welcomed him with flowers, sweets, and a seven-colored tika (saptarangi tika), praying for his long life and protection.
Pleased, Yama blessed that no brother who receives tika from his sister on this day shall face untimely death. π«
In Nepal, sisters apply saptarangi tika, offer garlands of makhamali and dubo grass, and give sweets and gifts, while brothers present tokens of love and gratitude in return.
Itβs a moment of renewal β celebrating trust, love, and the balance of family bonds. π
While versions of Bhai Dooj are observed elsewhere, Bhai Tika is uniquely Nepali, blending mythology, ritual, and heartfelt connection in a way only our Tihar does. π³π΅
May every brother-sister bond be blessed with protection, respect, and endless light. π―οΈπΌ
